Basseterre, Saint Kitts, June 01, 2026 (SKNIS): Citizens and residents across Saint Kitts and Nevis are now benefiting from free medical services provided by the North American Taiwanese Medical Association (NATMA), which has launched its first-ever medical mission to the Federation.
The medical mission, led by Dr. Charles Hsu, brings together 17 U.S.-licensed and Canada-based healthcare professionals who will provide complimentary medical care from June 1 to June 4 at health facilities across both Saint Kitts and Nevis.
The volunteer delegation includes specialists in family medicine, internal medicine, paediatrics, dentistry, pharmacy, acupuncture, and medical support services. In addition to offering free consultations and treatment, the team has donated medications and medical supplies valued at approximately US$20,000 to support healthcare delivery within the Federation.

Speaking at a welcome ceremony on May 31, 2026, at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort, Resident Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to Saint Kitts and Nevis, His Excellency Edward Ling-Wen Tao, highlighted the humanitarian spirit of the mission and the strong collaboration among Taiwan, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and the United States.

“This NATMA mission represents another brilliant chapter in our trilateral healthcare cooperation between Taiwan, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and the United States,” Ambassador Tao said. “What makes this mission especially meaningful is the selfless commitment demonstrated by every member of the delegation, each of whom has travelled to the Federation at their own expense to serve the people of both islands.”
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Curtis Martin, speaking on behalf of Prime Minister and Minister of Health, the Honourable Dr. Terrance Drew, expressed gratitude to the delegation and underscored the enduring friendship between Saint Kitts and Nevis and Taiwan.

“Ours is not a relationship built on formality or convenience. It is a relationship built on genuine partnership, shared values, and more than four decades of trust,” Martin said. “Taiwan has stood with Saint Kitts and Nevis in both the quiet moments and the difficult ones, and we are proud to stand with Taiwan in return.”
The mission serves as a tangible demonstration of the deep bonds of friendship and cooperation that continue to strengthen relations between Saint Kitts and Nevis and Taiwan. Through initiatives such as this medical outreach programme, both nations reaffirm their shared commitment to improving health outcomes, supporting communities, and advancing humanitarian service.

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the free medical services being offered throughout the Federation over the four-day mission. In St. Kitts, family medicine services will be available at the Basseterre Health Centre on June 01 and at the St. Paul’s Health Centre on June 02, while internal medicine consultations will be conducted at the JNF General Hospital on both days.
